Documentary series about Hanoi on television


VietNamNet Bridge – Celebrating the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi capital, Vietnam Television started broadcasting a documentary series about the history of Hanoi entitled “Thang Long’s Preeminent Heroes” on March 15.

The series comprises 312 5-minute episodes and it will be screened until October 2010. The short films bring to audiences stories about well-known people such as King Ly Cong Uan, Ly Thuong Kiet, Tran Hung Dao, Nguyen Trai, Quang Trung and President Ho Chi Minh, among others.

Each episode is an interesting story about the history and development of Thang Long-Hanoi in the past 1,000 years or customs, habits and culture of Thang Long-Hanoi people.

Besides lively scenes shot at historic sites, the series also employs 3D technology to restore images and sites of the past.

Production of the episodes saw the contribution of a team of reputed writers and scholars, namely writer Nguyen Khac Phuc, Ho Phuong, and Nguyen Vinh Phuc. The series was produced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam Airlines, Motion Media and Vietnam Television (VTV).
